                        Admittedly, it was not the most eloquent rejection, so naturally she felt bad for embarrassing the kid.

“Poor kid,” she sighed aloud, though the pity tracing her tone was practically nonexistent. Rejection was beyond understandable; if you weren’t interested, you weren’t interested period. There wasn’t much else to it.

(But as the saying goes: curiosity killed the cat.) ]
